Clover Cabinet
Food Pantry

The team at Irish Den saw a need in the community for a food pantry. It’s no secret that many are going through financially hard times, which often leads to food insecurity and hunger. The Irish Den staff decided to open a makeshift pantry in December 2023. With the announcement of a food bank, they were met with a demand of people in need of assistance, as well as a wonderful community of people who wanted to help. They quickly moved forward and haven’t looked back since.

Since they opened in January 2024 Clover Cabinet has assisted over 100 families through pantry appointments, weekend bag distributions at rural schools,  a snack cart with provisions at the local library, and a summer lunch program for kids. They currently run the pantry out of a rented space but would love to include a proper food pantry and small share closet in the future community center. Their goal is to help as many food insecure families as possible. Having the food pantry in the proposed community center would mean easier access and better staffing.

Clover Cabinet has received donations from various community members. Kids have asked for pantry donations instead of presents for their birthdays. Additionally, kids have used school projects to donate. The organization has also received grants and donations from United Way, Abilene Elks Lodge 1675, The Wild Bill Disc Golf Club, and Abilene Memorial Health Systems.
